Ab, not all of us are mindless cult-worshipers needing an alpha male to tell us how to think. <for the life of me, i don't know why they hang
around if they are so un-enamoured of tj.
>

People hang around where they find something useful, fun, or interesting. Cult acolytes hang around to feel a sense of tribal identity. There's an eclectic supply of information and ideas from around the world here. Where else can I learn about installing Cyberspace in Angola and what goes on in the mind of China's politburo? Official Politburo websites don't give that gritty reality perspective we get from a wider-ranging proponent. I get a front lines view of the mortgage debacle as CB battles for default on loans. All sorts provide all sorts.

I like the lonely path, the solitary way, the individual perspective, the self-determination. TJ is keen to be in the company of "the boyz" and far from the solitary way and lonely path.
<chaos is a gift
crisis a partner
volatility friend
LONELY PATH right way
survive to fight another day
if the road is easy, it leads to a trap
fear is a survival trait

panic is rational
>

TJ is right with that, but actually taking the lonely path is easier said than done. Most people, because of human identity needs, end up in a collectivist concept which seems real, even if they try to be individualistic. How about the hordes of young adults with tattoos "to express their unique individuality". Laughable. Piercings to show how stand-out they are. Taking a lonely path in China is expressly forbidden. Loading up with gold is hardly a lonely path. It's crowded.

E pluribus unum,
Mqurice

Because, contrary to TJ, I desire intellectual debate.. If everyone is thinking the same thing, no one is thinking..

So ignoring people, except for those who just act as trolls and add nothing of merit to a discussion, is the quickest way in which to narrow one's own awareness..

I seldom ignore people.. I may not like what they have to say, but I defend their right to say it so long as it's back by a smidgen of logic. If anything, it makes me defend my positions even more..

And when people have to start ignoring me in order to avoid answering my logic, then I think I'm starting to get closer to the truth...

And that's what I desire.. to understand.. So given there are some very high-quality opinions being offered on this thread, I enjoy participating...
