"I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president -- with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln," Obama told Steve Kroft, "just in terms of what we've gotten done in modern history." Obama's choice of presidents to number ahead of himself is consistent with his portrayal of his own agenda as an extension of the civil rights movement. In keeping with that, he praises Lincoln (who emancipated the slaves), and then the two creators of the entitlement state: FDR (Social Security) and Lyndon Johnson (Medicare, Medicaid). The president said that he has "got five more years of stuff to do."
