Yup. I have certainly pondered the very things that you bring up.

The airplane approach would be good for me though. The muni airport is only about 3 miles from here. We could get there much more easily than the harbor. Of course, I have no idea how to fly the damn thing nor do I own one.

This is the biggest issue of all imo. People can be prepared in most ways, but getting to a designated place where you and your family have agreed to meet would be the biggest challenge. Just trying to get there could get you killed.

Getting the 15 miles to your boat that is stocked with 'everything' may be difficult....or one's cabin in boonies....if you can get there, somebody else may already be there.
