I agree to a certain extent. However, when Joe customer walks into Best Buy and sees 4-5 AMD K6 machines and a couple of Cyrix machines it starts to give the whole idea of alternate CPU's some credibility. Like shopping for a car. Intel's ability to nearly totally suppress AMD and Cyrix at the retail stores worked well, but say, 1/3 of the machines on display are not Intel then the customer thinks differently. Andy has been very successful stomping the competition but once the flood gates open a little it could be harder for Intel to stop the momentum. That's why top tiers get a phone call from Andy if he thinks they are going to use alternate processors, before they use them.
