Oh,

I hedged only on paper, and much too late. Would have taken a small loss short selling and then got a buy signal. Still watching for an entry point, just in case.

If I had hedged on the original signal I got on Thurs 10/23, it would have helped. I hate trying to jump on a moving train, chasing up or down, and the idea didn't gell until it was too late. I'll let you know if I do anything in the future.

One problem I noticed is that the S&P 500 didn't drop anything at all like the stocks I was holding. I expected the POWs to hold up better by virtue of one or two just blasting off despite the market. Didn't happen.

OH,

I took the plunge and hedged on Friday. So far so good. It's an interesting feeling, being divided in your hopes for the market.

Just in case you're interested, my theory is to short the S&P 500 when I get a signal based on intraday data. In theory this should give me a jump on most important down moves, since intraday generally breaks down first. If I break even on these trades, I won't have hurt my long term bullish portfolio, and I'll be protected somewhat if a major downward market move develops.

That's the news from the front. Where have you been hiding?
