Art & storytelling is a specifically human adaptation and offers tangible advantages for human survival, and it derives from play , itself an adaptation widespread among more intelligent animals. More particularly, our fondness for storytelling has sharpened social cognition, encouraged cooperation, and fostered creativity. After a century and a half after the publication of Origin of Species, evolutionary thinking has expanded beyond the field of biology to include virtually all human-related subjects now to anthropology, archeology, psychology, economics, religion, morality, politics, culture, and art. From the first cave paintings to the Pyramids and the evolutionary origins of art and storytelling.... why we tell stories, how our minds are shaped to understand them, and what difference an evolutionary understanding of human nature makes to stories we love. Or like some , you can opt for the "Harry Potter's World of Magic Wand" Story of Creation and just move on to more important issues such as disproving the myths of Global warming , deforestation & species annhilation ...and all evil is a result of liberals & atheists . They follow the KISS method of scientific investigation where facts plainly are never allowed to get in the way.... many are called & few are chosen & you know who gets to decide who that is . This is how self replicating RNA & DNA came to exist on earth , note the old wise bearded fellow with flowing robes & watch the hands closely !
