Well, we can't all like the same wine. I bought this on a whim mainly because it was so cheap and wondered if it was "come alive for $1.05" kind of wine. I was pleasantly surprised. Not sweet which was a relief. None of us like sweet wines.

My niece lives in Vancouver too. I really had no idea until recently that the wine she has been bringing was so expensive. She once brought a very old bottle of Port for after dinner that is unavailable here. Oh it was wonderful. Cost her a paycheck I think.

I've never tried a Mexican wine. Sounds like unless I go down there, I likely never will. Is it just your friend's wine that's not available here, or all Mexican wines? What's the duty on it coming back?

i'm not a huge fan of Gewurztraminer....but that's just me

The 2007 Carmen was a huge success at Christmas. When I told my niece the price she was amazed. Apparently they couldn't even get it in Canada anymore so when I got back home I went to the store and purchased 6 more bottles. A few days later I decided I should maybe seriously stock up but there was only one bottle left and they haven't had it since.

So I decided to try other brands and I now understand why you're not a fan. I bought two types of California Gewurtztraminers and they were horribly sweet and the flavor wasn't even close to the Carmen. Then I became a woman on a mission, determined to find more. It's available online (although not 2007) but the shipping is ridiculously expensive. Oh well.

Lesson to me is that if I find something I like, buy a couple of cases.
