If American parents had to pay the $56.59 directly, per hour, they would be monitoring the schools very closely and demanding 'excellence in education". There would be none of the pablum sex education required at the Federal Level by the left and programs of indoctrination.

The focus would be on a Preparatory Education for Life
:

English, Mathematics, American History, Literature in English, Writing and composition in English, Public Speaking------telling a story----Writing a Story----Science without indoctrination.

Note that in the following paragraphs the benefits of $16.90 in benefits is not divided out in categories.
Teachers get credit for hours worked in order to qualify for Social Security------and most states have the State Retirement for Teachers. Their average benefits per hour are more than many people make per hour before SS or retirement benefits are even figured.

Dept. of Labor: Public School Teachers Are Highest Paid State Workers; Compensation Doubles the Average in Private Industry

"By contrast, according to BLS, private school primary, secondary and special ed teachers worked an average of 1,560 hours per year—or an average of 155 hours more than their public school counterparts.

According to the BLS report, private school teachers were not compensated as highly as public school teachers. When private school primary, secondary and special ed teachers were added to the pool with public teachers, average hourly wages and benefits for teachers dropped from $56.59 to $53.87. The report did not publish the disaggregated average compensation for private school teachers alone.

The $56.59 average hourly compensation for an American public primary, secondary and special education teachers includes $39.69 in wages and $16.90 in benefits, BLS reported.

For each hour at work, according to BLS, the average American public school teacher is paid $4.78 in retirement and savings benefits alone.

The average private sector worker, according to BLS, is paid $1.02 per hour in retirement and savings benefits--or less than one-fourth the average hourly retirement and savings benefits paid to public school teachers."

OBSERVATIONS:

Now, let's be fair to the teachers----the real cost of educating a child in the public school system 'per hour' is much more----------administration, janitors, school buses, buildings, utilities , school lunch programs, breakfast for some, school supplies books, computers, gas for the buses, expensive counselors who get more than the classroom teacher, school building construction and long term maintenance.

The real cost per hour very likely runs into the HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS PER HOUR much of it supported by your local and State taxation and Federal Taxes----------- paid for by your real estate taxes and income taxes and by the proceeds of state lotteries.

This puts another layer of people who should be demanding quality education by the Public Schools without the indoctrination by special interests and movements .

A reassessment of Public Education and its cost effectiveness is needed.

I will stop there-------------------mj
