There was a time when accepting welfare, food stamps, public assistance, or mooching off of others was considered very shameful, disgraceful, and humiliating. Many people went hungry and did without rather than accept charity, because to accept a handout was an acknowledgment that a man simply wasn't good enough to cut it in the world and that he was basically a waste of flesh.

My, how times have changed. Although my wife and I are quite satisfied and secure, I would gladly accept welfare or food stamps in a heartbeat if I knew how, because doing so would help me to recover a fraction of the money that the government routinely robs from me at gunpoint using their Marxist-thug tactics.
