Fund inflows? Usually yes, this year... I'm not so sure.
The market is always discounting future expectations, which you know.
Maybe expectations will not be as good ?
Would you be buying the first of the year in a retirement account if you thought waiting for a better entry price was warranted?
Most retirement accounts have access only to mutual fund indexes. Why Buy high when one could buy lower ? Fund managers might expect as much but are governed by their fund constitutions which in effect bind their hands to some extant. Fund managers will try to front run expectations but with limiting expectus.
I believe this market will be 15+% lower from the 12/31/2011 close in 2012.
