>>Maybe I should abandon adaptors altogether and try to find the right cable. The Zip plus docs do say to use the cable that comes with it, though.<<

Brendan -

Sorry. I missed the fact that this was a Zip plus. So the adapter you need is exactly the opposite of the one I have, which comes with the external Jaz.

I think you're still better off getting the adapter than trying to find the cable, if Iomega insists that you use their cable. You might try one of the hard drive specialists, like Megahaus or Dirt Cheap Drives. Or possibly Fry's electronics.

I really understand your frustration about this. SCSI cabling problems can be really maddening. I have gone through exactly these kinds of problems myself.

I'm not positive, but the problem might be the isa card. I bought an older model scanner that came with an isa sccsi. Didn't have any isa slots available, so I purchased a pci sccsi card. The scanner had the old style connectix (ie. large) connecter while the sccsi II pci card had the new micro connector. I ended up returning the scanner and exchanging it for the new model (sccsi II connecter). Problem solved. If you ask anyone at CompUSA for info you'll be worse off than before.

Hope this helped
