Yes but the real issue is that 2009 was a record gain year for commodity stocks and 2008 was actually a year in which many gains were realized early in the year. If losses are not taken now the 2008 gains can not be offset against and losses must be taken by the end of next year against 2009. Add in the lack of liquidity and the drop in gold and silver and you have an opportunity.
