I read your board every day and I just wanted you to know that a lot of americans view our actions similar to the way other countries view them. Many of us are embarrassed about the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. We see the financial destruction of our country. We see the deterioration of our morality. We see the arrogance of our leaders. I was talking to a young man today who had tattoos on both arms. I'm not a fan of tattoos but I realize that they must have a significant meaning to the person who has them. So I asked him about his tattoos and what the story behind them were. He told me he had served a tour in Iraq and that four of his fellow soldiers that were friends had be killed over there and so one of the tattoos were about them and the other was for his grandmother who passed away while he was in Iraq. I then asked him how he felt about Iraq as we are bringing the war to an end and he told me he felt they accomplished nothing. He said "they kill one of us and we go out and kill one of them. Then the pattern just repeats and accomplishes nothing".
We wasted all that money and all those lives (both American and Iraqis) for what? We destroyed the infrastructure of a country. We killed children that were "collateral damage". They were totally innocent. We attacked them.
America has not been a perfect country but up until 2000 we had a lot to be proud of. This past week they just pasted a bill that will allow the military/government to declare any american a terrorist and pick them up off the street, front yard or home and put them in a prison and never charge them with a crime and never give them the right to be tried. They will be able to hold us indefinitely.
We have become a police state. They have destroyed our constitution.
Ron Paul is gaining popularity because he stands for what many Americans believe. We want to defend our borders and not invade other innocent countries. We have no right to judge others and impose our will on them and take their resources. I think many americans are starting to see that we have been pawns to the bankers, federal reserve and military complex corporations. Its all about money and power. China will be the next Financial/economic power. Anyone that does not see that is naive. The government is starting to use propaganda and plant the seed that China is causing our problems. They are parading Donald Trump around to try and make Americans Anti-Chinese and to blame them for all our problems here that we ourselves created. Another war- this time with China, will not help anything, it will only make things worse.
I believe that what goes around comes around. I am not looking forward to the next 20 years in the US. We have a lot of bad karma that will haunt us.
I enjoy some of your eastern expressions and philosophies. One that has stayed in my mind was when you commented something to the effect ---that this is our destiny to be here on earth at this time.
