Tried the posts but didn't work for us.. just something else to scratch.. :O( summer is much better... they prefer trees to furniture.. small dogs that do not shed are not much problem... larger as in ours at about 50lb I agree can wreck a hardwood (old fashioned oak strip) floor if allowed to run amok... ours are not.. Dad had nice engineered wood and that seems pretty well impervious as is old style wood parquet (but that is out of style) ours are easy on the furniture as they are simply not allowed on it.. dogs will listen if properly trained (OK most folks do not succeed at that it is true )... cats, forget about it..

so depends.. cats are best for some dogs for others.. I like the dogs better but we have both...

cats since before we got married so 30 years.. dogs 8+ years..
