Patents are just playthings for unscrupulous competitors (that'd be the great Goog) to take at their whim. The article is a clear statement to steal any patent you need to make your product competitive. Otherwise you can only make shit if you don't have the innovation gene. Tough!

Apple makes phones and tablets. Those concepts which makes them extremely successful iPhones and iPads are protected by patents.

Pretty simple.

At least Microsoft is trying to do it their own way and are avoiding using Apple's patents as far as I can see.
