sad thing is the rumor probably started more like.... Two ceos sitting in a room drinking a brandy trying to find hte right way to get out of the nose dive of a stock ploy they have....saying "hey do you know anyone who would buy us out"..... Other one" Nope....Do you know anyoe who would buy us out?" Other one..."Nope, do you know who would buy us out??"""" and on it went until the janitor heard them and confused this with a real takeover attempt...and called the PR people.
