FWIW, I picked up my G3 last night and got it set up, with Internet connection, in about 15 minutes. Most of that time was taken up by physically unloading the hardware out of boxes. Folks, everything you've read about the speed of this machine is true. My mother, who's never worked on a Mac in her life and who will be the primary user of the G3, is already sending and receiving e-mail and surfing the 'Net after sitting down in front of the machine for the first time less than 10 hours ago. I haven't had time to run too many real-world tests on it, but I have toyed a little with Photoshop, which opens and runs like it was a 750K app. Incredible. And the new 720 monitor is a peach, too. IBD reported Thursday: The summer introduction of Apple Computer's new operating system, O'S8 fueled its 577% sales growth in the third quarter compared with last year. It held a 33% share of operating system software sold at retail from 5% last year says researcher NPD Group. But Microsoft's Windows 95 launched two years ago held a commanding 63% share of the retail market sales of operating systems for the period". What thinketh you? Herb S.
