It does seem silly to blame Obama for the recession, in light of the fact that it was going full blast before he was even elected.

Of course he could not stop it. It's risible to think that any President can order the economy to turn around. They can't order prosperity to begin, no matter how much they wish they could.

Reminds me of the old story of King Canute, ordering the tide to stop. Presidents and kings command their minions, but that is the limit of their power.
