After all the clowns that have cycled through the front-runner position, the local hostility to Paul puzzles me a bit. Personally, I always looked at Libertarians as the honest Republicans- unapologetic about real government minimization in all areas, without the culture wars BS that the Rs need to win elections. The cult of Rand is sort of disturbing, and Paul may have his own issues, but I don't see how Paul could possibly make the Rs look worse than the Bachmann / Perry / Cain / Newt parade / charade has.

I would never vote Libertarian myself, but I admire their philosophical consistency. Of course, when you're among people who think VfC's resident Austrian School advocate is a leftist / liberal because he doesn't exhibit the prerequisite that-which-dare-not-speak-its-name of modern conservatives toward Obama, philosophical consistency is not going to carry much weight. That's politics.
