United Teen Equality Center

Ha! Just got their end-of-year mailer, so I'm certain that MANY of us just received a pre-addressed UTEC envelope.

:-)

Cool choice of charity, McBio.

Would there be some way to create a link to the various portfolios so that when you give the weekly ranking, one can click on the link to see the stocks in that person's portfolio? It is an immense job to try to go back among the posts to find the portfolios.

12/30/11 Final Contest Update
CONGRATULATIONS MCBIO!
MCBIO’s portfolio is the Official Winner of the 2011 Biotech Charity Contest, with a stunning 69.96% YTD gain. This was almost 6 times the YTD gain of the Nasdaq Biotech Index and is in stark contrast to a YTD loss for the Nasdaq Composite Index.
Kudos are also in order for the stellar performances of the portfolios in second and third place. JIBAC’s portfolio turned in a remarkable 59.81% YTD gain, while the 57.07% YTD gain by ROCKY’s portfolio was just a bit behind.
2011 was a much better year for biotechs, especially the larger-cap companies, than for the overall market. At Friday’s 2011 year-end close, the NBI was up 11.81% YTD (vs. up 10.89% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was down -2.69% YTD (vs. down -4.70% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index closed 2011 down -1.80% YTD (vs. down -1.29% YTD a week ago).
At Friday's 2011 year-end close, 16 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black, while 10 were beating the NBI.
Below is the 2011 year-end Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week (foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these two tables).
Portfolio adjustments this week: None.

As previously posted, Contest winner MCBIO’s Charity pick is the United Teen Equality Center. Here’s the link for info and to donate:

For those who’ve expressed a desire to donate to my charity pick along with that of the Contest winner, my choice remains the same as last year: the WriterCoach Connection, linked at writercoachconnection.org

2012 Contest: The 2012 Contest link is here:
Subject 58498
2012 portfolios may be posted either on the 2012 Contest Board or by PM to me. Please read the Contest rules before posting your portfolio, especially taking note of the posting format examples. The Contest portfolio submission deadline is Sunday, 1/8/2012, midnight (PST). But the earlier the better!
(If you’re waiting for RKRW to post his portfolio before selecting your own, forget it. RKRW has already PM’d me with his 2012 picks.)

Thanks to all who participating in the 2011 Contest. I’ll post more data on the 2011 Contest results in the coming days.
Best wishes biotechies for a healthy & prosperous 2012!
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
