Now that much of the emotion surrounding pledging and hypothecation of client assets has subsided, I am still doubtful that those with non-margin accounts with retail, service-provider, non-risk-taker brokerages have much to fear with regard to asset theft. I am more concerned about exposure to banks and the FDIC, which is likely unprepared to deal with multi-domino, systemic banking failures.
