The currency can only be supported by strong fundamentals (absent),
strong banking system (in danger of collapse) and by holding value of either gold or foreign debt. If Japanese are forced to re-partriate money and sell US treasuries (many think that it could happen soon, even sooner that most think) In that occurence there will be no place to hide for Japanese or anybody else but gold. If Japan decides to stay content with deflation/brink of recession $ will stay high, Yen low, US bonds high and the only way for Japan out is to export themself out of trouble (that would be the worst case scenario with wold-wide repercussions (good for gold)
