Manfred,

Thanks for your thoughts. Given that, the BORL stock price will never increase. Why buy BORL at all, when other companies do allow their stock price to increase?

I noticed yesterday that the stock price was still a bit weak, so I cancelled my buy order and did some nice day trades. It was good to make money in the market again.

Though, I was awfully lucky to have sold the BORL calls the day before the acquisition announcement. Maybe this is a lucky streak.

Linda

Linda, I would not buy calls, I would buy the stock itself and hold it
for a long time. I think this aquisition is not the last one that
Borland will make, and maybe they will buy the other companies as
expensive than this one.

This is right on. Clearly, we are talking fairly long-term here. But calls aren't ruled out. I'm in the process of converting the near(er) term LEAPS I own to Jan 2000 10s. I'm confident these will pay, as Del's remarks about the "8 quarter turnaround" would indicate that there should be some market recognition within that timeframe. If we are heading toward anything near 500M revenue within a few years, some additional acqusitions will surely occur, but need not be dilutive.

I think Manfred makes an excellent point with respect to the likelihood of additional acqusitions.

David

Hi Manfred,

*off topic*

Here's the information you wanted. There were some books
on shorting. But I found this one might be the best short
one for you.

"How to buy stocks" by Lou's Engel and Brendan Boyd.
Bantam Nonfiction, In US $5.99 + tax, Barnes & Noble
and other on line book stores carry them. You don't
have to pay sales tax that way. Otherwise, you have
to tell bookstores that you are from "country name"
to avoid sales tax.

Please let me know if you have hard time to get one,
I'll find ways to help you.

regards,

BPP
