Skeeter,

I have used Waterhouse and Brown & Co. extensively for quite a long time, and can recommend both without hesitation. The only negative is that for orders of over 5000 shares there is a high commission, so the order has to be "split." For that reason I decided to try Ameritrade, which doesn't have this particular limitation on commissions. So far, I have not found them to be worthwhile, however. They didn't allow me to actually place orders that added up to more than the cash I had on hand, for example, even though I had some considerable securities there and also some cash. Both Waterhouse and Brown & Co do allow me to place orders adding to more than the cash I have on hand. Given that, it may be worth the trouble to split orders.
