Just because they can't legally compel someone to do something doesn't mean they don't have power.

they don't have the power to force people to do things like buy insurance. they don't have the power to force anyone to do anything. and that's what we were talking about. force.

there's nothing wrong with economic 'power'. economic power can't force anyone, anymore than electric 'power' can. are you against electric power?

The boss who fires his employee has power over that employee.

WHAT POWER?? he can't force his employee to do a damn thing. if the employee doesn't like his boss, he can quit. people do it all the time.

The CEO that decides to close a factory, lay off 2500 people, and open up another factory offshore is exercising power.

the power of management. he has no other 'power'.

Also the company that gives financial support to a candidate has some power over that candidate's decisions. Not absolute power, but power to influence.

you're talking about government corruption. corruption that wouldn't be possible without government straying from the confines of the constitution.

The food industry waged a campaign that argued that food prices would go up if the new labeling law was enacted. The ability to wage such a media campaign is an example of economic power.

your 'economic power' is just money to buy corrupt politicians that have disregarded the constitution.

Just because that type of power doesn't have the force of the rule of law behind it doesn't mean that it is not power.

that 'type of power' can't force anyone. your emphasis on 'power' is meaningless. there are many types of 'power'. but there's only one power that can legally force people to do things. that's corrupt, unconstitutional, government power.
