Reading the article tells me they did not get together on much. it sounds like pure politics and photo-ops. From Iraq to taxation, Bush did not compromise with Kennedy, or liberals ("The Decider.")

The Bush years were characterized by shutting off the Democrats, if you would like I will give you more proof than you can stand. The Republicans still make a mockery of bipartisanship in the Senate, with a slim Democratic majority, with the constant threat of filibuster. Nasty win at any cost obstructionists. After Bush/Cheney and now this extension led by Eric Cantor's ilk, we may never get back to civility in Washinton DC.

Bush FUBARED everything he touched with his race to privatization and putting lobbyists in the Drivers' seats. The unfunded No Child Left Behind Education mess was especially wasteful and made teachers focus on tests, and not teaching kids to think and process.
