SS has never been a "savings plan". It's always been a generational transfer plan, with current working payees paying for current beneficiaries. The last time it was "saved", the rate was raised to generate a surplus that would supposedly cover the boomer generation, but congress began spending the surplus as general revenue and putting in IOUs.

Well I hope so.
It - they -have to be fixed and SS can and it can be made better, stronger. Why would you be against that?
