And the great thing about the USA political system is that if Ron Paul went rogue, he could only do things if Congress agreed and the Supreme Court said it's constitutional. < I don't think he is stupid.. don't agree with all he says but he is a refreshing step ... Would be interesting exercise to see him elected.. A term with RP would be a good way to determine if the US system is broken or not... >

If the public likes what he pushes, they can elected Congressional representatives who will go along the same track. If they don't, they can elect opposition who will stop him.

I like pretty much all he says. I don't go along with the gold business but do back the idea of competing free market money with government not involved. Some people would use gold as a money basis so it's not as though he's off his rocker with gold. Heck, even some otherwise reasonably lucid people right here in SI bang on about gold year after year. Heck, even I was seduced into buying a dirty great Tonka Truckload of the stuff a week or two ago.
