They live in fear of what their Lord will do to them if they question the mythology. Theirs is a God without mercy. or tolerance of "proof" or "data" that might contradict dogma.

I think its normal through about the age of 5 to believe in imaginary friends. But as you grow up you realize that you are responsible for yourself and your planet from this moment forward. That superstitions, like OCDs are non-causal once deconstructed. Hey I get superstitious at a dice table too, but I laugh at myself; the dice are unaffected by my wiggle or repetitive action.

You realize that "might" as a strategy does not build sustainable competitive advantage whether its the playground or the marketplace. Or among nations over centuries. You realize that Jesus doesn't pick the Steelers to beat the Patriots because the Steelers pray more. That its better to study for a test, than to go to church instead. That Muhammad doesn't have 60 virgins waiting for you in heaven after you blow up your "enemies." (And that Muhammad Ali, or Kareem Abdul Jabar is not the same as Osama Bin Laden just as Tim McVeigh was no John McCain.)

At some point you realize that plenty of compelling people in suites or robes gain their power by selling you B.S., and you need to have a scientific perspective to shut out the noise and see the pluses and minuses as an educated "consumer" rather than through the lens of the seller whether it be food or political thoughts. That religion is a gigantic enterprise just like government or gigantic corporations, or empires... and that only through reason can we come to truth that benefits the greatest amount of people. And to this date, the greatest tool of reason, and disinfectant of toxic ignorance ever discovered is The Scientific Method, not one of the many versions of the Bible or The Watchtower or LDS Living...
