Sure enough, brain fried!! In Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton is having relationship problems and has identified his fried brain as the reason his premium performances have dropped off to also-ran. Roger Federer was an amazing artist on the tennis court, but then married and had children. Mononucleosis didn't help and he couldn't beat journeymen. Here is a picture of a man with a fried brain: gototennis.com Nature is relentless and merciless. Nature wants babies. Blokes and their psychic equilibrium are disposable. The purpose of nature is not to play golf, or tennis, or drive cars really quickly. The fascination golfers have with Tiger Woods is because we identify the various psychological pandemoniums which go on in his brain and it's like watching a disaster movie in the making but with superlative times of human glory. It's not his great putting technique or the technical mechanisms by which he can raise, lower and turn golf balls in flight, spin them backwards and sideways on landing and send them flying further than pretty much anyone. It's to see the amazing moments, when in the zone [which is a weird feeling to have - as though one is God or something with a magical path laid out before you and the only way to go is perfectly]. Also to see the psychological torment of being unable to sink a 3 foot putt and to see him lining up to hit with his mind trying to keep still but sitting on top of a steaming cauldron of psychic commotion, knowing that the shot is likely to go anywhere [though of course not as adventurous as the shots we amateurs can make into the wild blue yonder out of bounds and anywhere it's possible for a golf ball to go, which is everywhere, including totally disappearing from existence right in the middle of nowhere to hide]. Tiger's collapse was not due to breakfast being served late, or socks misplaced. It was an exploded brain due to sexual drives and emotional connections. I have watched the scene since I first saw young Eldrick walking along Augusta golf course, 12 shots in the lead and grinning ear to ear. en.wikipedia.org It has been fascinating since. I always remembered his father's comment and waited. Sure enough, the test came. But when his father said he would do more to change humanity than anyone, it is possible that was more than just boastful bragging. I have puzzled for a long time how that might be. Playing golf is obviously not the way. Religion? There is room for a new one and I have been seeking adherents but suspect my charisma is lacking somehow. I'm only half kidding when I say that being in the zone feels like being God. It's weird to see a huge hole way across the green and know that the ball will do only what it can do. Another time, the hole can look little, and there is nothing connecting the various components of one's brain to the surrounding reality. Sure, hands are gripping club. Feet are on ground. There's the ball. The hole is over there somewhere. Yes, there it is. Now it's slightly off falling to the left downhill so don't hit it too hard. OMG how hard. Well, have a practise swing. Hmm... Dunno. Hang on, where's the hole again? Okay, there it is. Hey, it shrank again. Wish those people would stop talking. Now a fly has landed on the ball. Okay, just hit it. No wait, see if the line is sort of right. Hmm not sure. Oh crap. Here goes .... Ball slides to back of green and down the hill. Need another approach shot. After a couple of years, which is coming up, Tiger should have gone through the psychological torment of grieving and death and all that stuff and be starting to come out the other side, older and wiser. But if his father was right, with something even more robust to work from. I don't think his father meant that he would fail the test in the sense that he would be unaffected by the woman [women]. But that he would be tested, go through the test however and come out the other side ready for the big time. He can afford plenty of help to pick up a suit from a dry cleaner and get lunch ready.
