You seem to forget that I am on the extreme left when it comes to health care for instance. I want socialized medicine.

Let me suggest, Steve, that you don't really mean that. The best I can tell from your posts here is that you are for socialized healthcare insurance; not socialized medicine. I haven't seen a single post here arguing for a medical system completely run by the federal government--doctors as employees, etc. Rather the arguments I've seen have been about insurance. What you want, as do many of us here, is the medicare for everyone option.

If I'm wrong, please correct me.

<<<whatever the government wants to spend money on has to be paid for. How would I pay for socialized medicine?>>>

We pay for it by creating a prosperous economy, by having people staying healthy, by people being better educated, so that they are more productive, and having more people earning higher wages.

On the other side of the ledger, we can cut waste, corruption, and by not transferring vast amounts of wealth to a small number of very wealthy people.

I know that what I type will be almost totally discounted and I am also discounting a lot of what you are typing. In that, our differences will remain. The only way we can reconcile our differences is by getting data from both sides of a budget and finding our beliefs in some measurable form. Words alone will not do the trick.
