Well, when I won the contest a couple of years ago, it was PDL. However, in mcbio's, rkrw's, scaramouche's, and Biotech Jim's cases, to mention a few, it was, and is, smarts.

Congrats, mcbio, great contest!

There is always an element of luck in a contest of this type. However, you can go back and peruse the previous contests and you will see that there are plenty of participants who consistently do well. These "experts" (your term, not theirs) know exactly what they are doing. They will say they got lucky, but don't believe that for a second. There are any number of participants who are always in the running (unfortunately for my charity, I am not one of them!), and we actually have a three-time winner (not much luck involved with that).

i might suggest reconsidering the idea that there is a correlation between the contest results, and expertise of the participants given the construct of the rules involved.

I would call it "biotech enthusiasts". I don't think anyone here claims to be an expert.

Incidentally the BTK index was down 16% for the year.

Some people have a knack of being near the top, most years. Seems like they're EXPERTS to me.

Some of the portfolios that were lack-luster this year will be whoppers next, as some contest participants are invariably ahead of curve.

But there's a bit of "plain dumb luck" in any winning bioportfolio. Physiologic roulette.

Switching subjects.... congrats, McBio!! Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice ride, and we all have a good vibe re. UTEC.

Congratulations!

(Thanks, Marty!)
