Here is the Case Shiller graph for houses in the 20 top metropolitan areas:



I get 75 for 1992 and 135 for 2012, for a rise of 1.8x, which is not much different from the CPI. Note that metropolitan areas increased much more than fly over country, and Case Shiller only includes metropolitan areas.
