Great comments and I will need to study some before arriving at a conclusion. I appreciate the deep thinking on the subject and it is always possible I'll change my thinking based on what is pushed into evidence here. say.

[edit] I do not think Krugman was joking about a housing bubble. I followed Krugman for a very long time and once was a believer in what he said. My conclusion that he is wrong developed slowly and were based on reading him weekly in the NYTimes.
