I'm from Texas, and have family there, some of whom are conservative and Perry voters. Even among them, there's a sort of Perry/W fatigue. There really aren't many cowboys left in Texas, and I think they're kind of tired of electing phony cowboys. It's really not what Texas is about, and hasn't been for a very long time.

I agree. It was nice when there was a sensible alternative to the democrats.

I don't think there has been once since Gerald Ford in 76 and Eisenhower in the 50s. I'll be happy to argue that Nixon never was one, though some of his policies look so in the fading light of a long mirror.
