Our society is just a slightly more civilized version of tribal ("we the people") raids and coups. States accost states, groups accost groups, organizations accost organizations--and all of them accost the individual. Because the game is to exploit the individual. That is the major (and absolutely immoral) purpose of most people. And most people are unaware of their culpability in that regard. Most are too gutless to do it in an alley, so they do it in the town square... Why should a Ted Haggard (for example) lurk and skulk on a street corner when he can exploit people from a stage and be rewarded and sanctioned for it?
