Ok, taking the company press release at face value (tongue slightly in cheek), what I gather is:
Sales are up less than anticipated, so inventory levels were wrong; price pressure leads to some inventory writedown; SGA higher as % than before.
So it appears that Company geared up for growth which did not completely materialize, and their staffing, marketing etc. thus grew in percentage terms.
Doesn't sound altogether perfect.
On the other hand, given a growth premise the company had to prepare for consequences of such growth. Nobody thought TV ads were free.
Realizing we're going to get clobbered today (and I am very long), can anyone surmount disappointment at this announcement and find positives in the top line growth and dollars spent on marketing.
Sort of reminds me a little of Sequent, which came out in late 1996 and said they were preparing for the growth of their NUMA lines and were going to build support for significant sales increases.
Isn't that what MUEI is doing?
Would like to hear more from the company.
