Hi Chris and all,

I've been trading for about a year, have one computer, level I quotes, a regular discount broker and sufficent funds to trade reasonable quantities of $10-$40 stocks. I've reached a point where I need to add a second computer and level II quotes. My trading style tends to be short term but not necessarily pure day trading. I could use some input on advantages/disadvantages of direct trading. Also some suggestions on how to select a dependable fast brokerage. Seeing E-Trade off line durring the crash and finding from personal experience that a slow web site is just as bad as music on hold, makes me a bit leary of making a switch. I've also noticed that a lot of firms have language in their contracts that include things I wouldn't agree to in a million years.

I've just started looking into this, so any information anyone cares to provide including suggested reading and links to more information would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Don

Chris, When you get the at home trading set-up, will it be internet based, dial-in based, or both? Thanks for the info. Roger
