I like your comparison to FDR, because what you are forgetting is the FDR used the stimulus to buy him time to work with Congress to fix the systemic root causes. The result of the fixes were new laws like Glass-Steagal and many other new laws and regulations that put banks in a straight jacket, which lead to a period of unprecedented prosperity.

Unlike FDR, Obama has decided that he won't address any of the root causes, but instead he'd bailout the bankers and let all the key problems including derivatives to continue to explode unabated.

So the bridge stimulus that Obama has provided is not what gets me angry. It could have bought us plenty of time to fix things. It's that Obama didn't and DOESN'T have the fortitude to actually fix things that has me not wanting to vote for him anymore.
