I'd opt to retain PJ, rather than risk the company on a new vision. It took some time and missteps, but the learning curve for PJ is well on its way. Patent peace while the industry litigates itself towards destruction, arms sales across all radio technologies and operating systems, and a rapidly evolving/well executed chipset roadmap with unparalleled integration, have all secured Paul's job security. Though you would like to reshuffle the deck, and get a new player to throw the dice, I'd stand pat with the hand we've got.

You might be right about Kyobo being yet another R&D product that just got shipped but they've been working on this stuff for eons. If one is going to make a product, at least make it something that is competitive within it's category. Much like they chose to compete in the mobile TV arena, they chose the eReader format.

They did choose the eReader format but what difference does it make that Qualcomm (or Kyobo) didnt support the right formats or that it takes too long to open an e-book? The problem with MediaFLO is that they had to make these types of decisions and made so many wrong ones. With Mirasol, they are a component supplier and it is up to the vendors to get the software and user interface right.

However, it is now associated with late and disfunctional product and right at the time, the chosen product category is capturing mass market appeal.

I really doubt that is going to matter. Any number of first generation products suck but reviewers look at the overall potential of the technology (see both 3G and 4G handsets).

JMO, but I doubt that Amazon's (or any other first-tier vendor) decision on whether to adopt Mirasol will be based on either the sales performance of the Kyobo or its overall reviews.

Vision without execution is worthless.

I still think the execution with respect to Mirasol is an open question. We'll see what happens over the next year, but yes, overall the execution outside of the core has been lacking. The question is whether the good execution in QCT/QTL would have happened anyway without PJ. I think everybody is going to have a different opinion on that matter and it is obviously impossible to prove one way or another.

Trevor, congrats--- you’re the first!!.............................

Only 2 days into the New Year and we’ve got the malcontents (crouch / complainer/ moaner) calling for Paul’s head.

>>>>”….PJ has billions and a good chunk of it now beyond Qualcomm equity. Before it's too late, it's time for someone of a more pragmagic nature to lead. Yes men and women only disguise the problems and prolong the demise.”

I guess you weren't 1 of 17 to recommend FWS's post????????????
