Don't think so, even in the biotech mania days, but not sure. Don't recall numbers in this ballpark. Remember initial Genentech offering went up 3x or so on the offering day, but not enuf shares to get anywhere near the vrus mc...

If when you say --'before having a product approved'--if you mean not approved by the FDA, then my answer will be General Electric. Again this is assuming you mean a biotech product under the stated definition of biotechnology.

I bet I have some scratching their heads over why General Electric would be my answer!

I *think* Millennium got up to around a $20b market cap. I remember selling shares >$300/share. For some stupid reason, perhaps the kool-aid, I held on to 25% of my position :)
