>>that is only an educated guess on my behalf.<<

Exactly. You post on an internet chat board while PJ is a multi brilliant engineer who runs a multi billion dollar tech company. You (and the rest of us) really have no idea of the inner workings of Qcom. Your educated guess consists of, if it works Paul gets no credit, if it doesnt then it's Pauls fault. He is the CEO. It is all Paul. Qcom is the envy of the superstars like Intel who would now give anything to have had Pauls vision five years ago. Apple is a great company but I fear Jobs may have been too much ego and could have learned a lot from PJ about the litigation quicksand. Apple needs to clean up those lawsuits or they will quickly suck more money from the company than any Flo TV fiasco. Samsung (etc) is a great company and would be stupid not to try for it's own solutions. Thats business yet you blame Paul because Samsung is not stupid.
According to every knowlegeable source out there (not including chat boards) Qcom is leading the Superbowl yet every time they don't score on a drive you scream to the replace the quarterback and head coach. With who? Its absurd. They have the lead, they have a plan. Every decent coach throughout history has postulated, "If it ain't broke don't fix it." , especially because of a spectator, not even in the game, who is sitting on the sidelines complaining that we only have a twenty point lead.
