"Most were plain old ordinary Christians."

Please define what "plain old ordinary" means. There are 38,000 different Christian groups operating in the world all believing different things. Early Christianity was a political movement to organize the poor to build giant churches so the aristocracy had a place to hang out. It was just another form of taxation and if you didn't have faith you would be accused of all kinds of things. People submitted out of fear not faith.

The early Christians latched on to the blame, shame and claim thing.
