I agree with you there was widespread disgust over Republican spending mirroring democrat spending. This also was a significant factor in the loss of Congress in 2006. As much as conservative cheerleaders may be dismayed to read this, IMHO the best government under our current system is one in which neither party controls the Presidency and both chambers of Congress.

The timing of tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber (Reid and Pelosi) gaining power was a direct result of Republican abuses coupled with President Bush 43 failing to lead on issues important to evangelicals.

tonto, you and the other posters are missing the point. The Republicans lost big in 2006 because Bush and Cheney misled us into the Iraq war and voters finally realized what a strategic blunder that was. You and the other posters do no wish to discuss the issue of Iraq because it is so painful to recall.
