I believe Bellcore was recently purchased by SAIC. SAIC is a huge (multi-bil) privately held consulting firm...(both diversified scientific, engineering, and information technology)

_________

Gary and all--

Before Bellcore became one of the fragments of the break-up on AT&T
it was called "Bell Laboratories".

This one of the biggest basic research centers run by a large corporation in the country. Used to employ many Ph.D.Experiental Psychologists doing basic research.

Remnants of that orientation still exist, but I heard a speaker from there on our campus a year or so ago and the research is all directed toward the "bottom line' now.
