That's micro-evolution of the sort humans have been accomplishing by for thousands of years by controlled breeding. No one disputes it, but it doesn't establish the claim that everything living resulted from natural selection.

Now if they'd documented that some of the finches had lost the power of flight, lost their feathers, grew scales, evolved into fish and swam away from the islands, that would be pretty powerful.
