In my mind, a lie is an intentional misstatement of fact, intended to deceive, misrepresent or otherwise dis-inform, for the purpose of gaining an advantage.

Others seem to have a different definition.

Agree, some people (eg previous "moderator") just love to use this as their final "defense". Almost always shows the debate has been lost.

Silly me, I was thinking that twisting and lying about your opponents position was the sign of a losing argument.
