Exactly what did President Carter in. He did not play ball with big oil, and instead pursued alternative energy, so they created a nightly TV show ABC to chronicle the American hostage drama in Iran and then used CIA backchannels to negotiate a secret deal with the Iranian government to keep the American hostages in captivity until President Reagan was elected (which is what they did). The same big oil players who maneuvered the U.S. government to look the other way when Saddam Huessein threatened to invade Kuwait in 1990, so they could have an excuse get the U.S. military involved directly on the ground in the region. The same big oil forces that used their puppet Bush, Jr. and massive propaganda to launch an invasion of Iraq in 2003 to get their mits on one of the biggest oil prizes in the world. Obama is up against some powerful forces. Which way do you think he's going to come down on this pipeline decision?
