www , Slacker, re: Kyobo / Mirasol delta between demo - production

+ I'd be very surprised if the same equipment wasn't used for the demo and production units. The key to the differences in the launch product has to lie with the touch control or front lighting units. I'd find it highly unlikely that the backend MEMS units would be different at this stage of development.

+ but some of it could also be due to the carefully controlled demos that we have seen previously.

I’m just guessing that the revealed degradation is more likely due to the touch control than front lighting since the later can be turned off. The next question, as Slacker says, if this is an inherent problem with the technology or can be mitigated thru technological advancements.

We were able to handle the demos Q had at the past ASMs and my recollection is that our comments were generally favorable. We also inquired about touch screen capabilities and were told that touch screen tech could be incorporated. True, it appears touch capabilities have been added, but with “some” degradation to image quality.

Hopefully we’ll get some answers to these perplexing questions next week at the CES.
