Here is the other side of the coin on Otto.

I used to subscribe but after a bit realized that I was paying for nothing and cancelled.
My stock picking average was at least as good and usually better than his and I think most who have been doing this a while will be the same.
His top recos are mostly well known by anyone doing this for a while anyway. His analysis while good is IMO way overdone for most people and he often dedicates the entire analysis portion of his letters to re-reviews of previous reviews which just reach the same conclusions anyway so basically a waste of time.
Most will reach the same conclusions via their normal DD without doing the entire song and dance.
So I think while he may be good for someone just starting out doing junior investing for those of us who have been at it a while IMO it's a waste of $400.
What he would maybe be good for is ideas on juniors to look at but for the most part forums like this one do a better job of giving one a heads up on new interesting juniors.
While he sets himself up as a bit of an expert on Lat. Am politics. he's been dead wrong on many of his political calls. The ones he's gotten correct have been no brainers so he's no help there either.
Last I heard out of his 15 PM picks 11 were underwater and his copper picks were 50/50ish. Not that that is much different than many people's portfolios these days but that's the point. If he's no better than average at best and IMO worse than many who have been doing this type of investing for a while why spend the $400?.

If you get lucky and pick the ones from his list that do make money you'll pay for the subscription but since 11 out of his 15 top picks, including one of his top three, are in the red the odds aren't on your side.

My $.02 worth anyway.
Hope you enjoy 2012.
